Google Releases 8th-Gen TPU to Compete for Global AI Computing Market

Google unveiled the 8th-generation TPU series at the 2026 Google Cloud Next, including TPU 8t for training and TPU 8i for inference. It achieves major improvements in computing power, energy efficiency and deployment cost. Google has signed long-term supply agreements with top AI companies, breaking NVIDIA’s monopoly on high-end AI chips and intensifying global computing competition.
